The Down Under Expo and now incorporating The Working Abroad Expo is the only event of its kind in Ireland and has already assisted thousands of Irish People to emigrate and start a new life in Australia & New Zealand since first held in 2005. Over 20,000 people have attended the combined exhibitions over the last number of years proving that you are not alone in considering working and living abroad.
The widespread availability of information on jobs, visas, country statistics, housing and even schools makes moving to a new Country much easier than before. However making that move is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make;
Attending the Expo will allow you to meet first hand with Employers and Recruiters, often enabling you to conduct a preliminary interview without ever having to leave Ireland. Getting a job is often the first step in working abroad but do you need a visa?
Not all Countries require a Visa but if you are considering emigrating to Australia or New Zealand, do you know what visas exist, how you apply and how long does it take? As there is NO visa office in the Australian Embassy in Dublin, NO New Zealand Embassy in Ireland, all enquiries are directed through London to the Australian High Commission & New Zealand High Commission. The Immigration Unit of the Australian High Commission (Department of Immigration & Citizenship) & Immigration New Zealand Government attend the Expo and are available to answer your questions directly.
For example in 2005/2006 the top 10 occupations in demand in Australia, filled by Skilled Migrants from Ireland were:
1. Registered Nurses“I found the Expo invaluable; searching for information online was useful but one size doesn’t fit all. I had questions about my partner’s eligibility which wasn’t available online or via the automated telephone answering system. Within twenty minutes we had all the answers to our questions, additional advice and spoke first hand with people who had already completed the process.” Terry Killeen - Visitor
Once you have secured your job and visa………. Where will you live? Will you buy or let? What schools will the kids attend? How do I register for tax, open a bank account? Will you be transferring funds and want to get the best rates? The Expo includes a wide range of exhibitors covering visas, job opportunities and local knowledge such as schooling, housing, relocation & financial services.
